CT Scanning provides precise 3-dimensional images with millimeter-accurate measurements that allow a greater level of confidence in pre-operative planning than routine dental films do. The use of CT scanning and special software provides images that allow precise planning and treatment outcomes in more complex cases and the avoidance of injury to important anatomic structures such as the sinuses and nasal chamber in the upper jaw and the mandibular nerve in the lower jaw. CT scans are performed in hospitals or in radiologists offices.
